About Darksworn / Alan Blaisdell
Darksworn is a metal solo project made by Alan Blaisdell where he writes, performs, and records the guitars, bass, drums, and vocals himself.
I am a metal solo artist who loves creating the most powerful, passionate music I can. I have complete control by writing and recording my own music, along with performing the bass, guitars, drums, and vocals. While pursuing my Bachelor's in Music Business through Berklee College of Music, I am also gaining the skills to control the business side of my music.
Musically and lyrically I go for as deep of meaning possible, and try to deliver experiences that bring whole new comprehension of life. I don't consider myself religious (or even believing in a god), but the best way I can describe my musical aim is to create as "godlike" experience as possible. For example, if say a god, alien, or whatever super celestial life made themselves known throughout the entire Earth to mankind – I want to capture those same sort of adrenaline-rushing, beautiful, mind-blowing experiences that are hard to even imagine, with my music. I am as human as anyone else, but believe there is infinite potential for epic creation from continuously working to better myself and my music, and the same goes for anyone else. Whether it be production, individual instruments, or elements of the composition like melody and rhythm, I dissect them all as a solo artist and am working to improve each piece by piece.
I've been told how a band can have benefits compared to being solo, but I really love playing each instrument, and gives me a better understanding of how they merge together to form a complete mix. I am more about pleasing ears than being the most technical (while displaying skill is still important to me), and being solo gives me direct control over musical messages I send and emotions within. For me, this is the method I most enjoy, and seems to be best for bringing what I envision to life. I am still open to finding members who share my same vision, or at least collaborating, but for now am very happy with what I do.

My biggest influences on the drums are Mario Duplantier of Gojira and Chris Adler of Lamb of God. Even though these two aren't necessarily melodic death metal drummers, they are still incredible drummers and major influences, as well as bits and pieces of the thousands of other amazing drummers out there that I look up to.
Josh Middleton of Sylosis, Ryan Knight of The Black Dahlia Murder, and Brendon Small (maker of Dethklok and Galaktikon) are a few of my biggest guitar influences.
On vocals there are many I love, but my sound is similar to Johan Hegg of Amon Amarth .
There are many incredible bassists out there as well and think they deserve way more credit than they receive. I love groovy bass like Les Claypool from Primus , but the role bass plays in my music really varies from song to song.
